The Kauri Wood Tables are made from ancient trees buried and preserved in a swamp in  New Zealand that are thousands of years old.

This dinning table I have kept for our own use, it is one of many I have made. This one the  outer edge is apoxy resin with shells and some fern leaves set in the resin. Notice that some of the  grain in the wood is translucent. The swamp kauri wood is very unique for its grain characteristics.

The Kauri swamp wood that I am using is carbon dated at around 35,000 years old. Most of the stumps that support the tables are cedar, some are found on the lake shores in British Columbia Canada, others are obtained after logging has been done. I even have even retrieved some from the results of an avalanche.
